If your produce safety equipment or facility needs an upgrade for GAP compliance, then grant funds are available to reimburse 33% of eligible on-farm infrastructure improvements, up to $5,000. *Participants must meet certain eligibility requirements.

The 2019 Annual Meeting of the Virginia Pumpkin Growers Association will be held on Saturday, January 26th at the Southwest VA Farmers’ Market Wholesale Warehouse. The official meeting will begin on or around 8:30 am with Registration beginning at 7:30 am!
The Annual Pumpkin Festival will be held on Saturday September 29th in its new location for the 2nd year of Downtown Hillsville from 10 am – 4pm. The 2018 Senior Coupon APPLICATIONS are available now! Go to our Senior Coupon Page to get information and you may DOWNLOAD the application to fill out and mail in! Remember it is on a FIRST COME – FIRST SERVE basis so get your application as soon as possible and fill it out and send it in!!!A class will be held for Tow Motor training for interesting parties on Tuesday, March 6th, 2:00 pm in the Wholesale Warehouse Bay One at the Southwest Virginia Farmers’ Market. GAP Coordinator, Kevin “Bubba” Hancock will conduct the class.
The class will train according the the requirements of OSHA Standard 1910.178. You will have to demonstrate the ability to safely and correctly drive a Powered Industrial Truck.
Everyone that passes will receive a certificate of Completion!

The Virginia Pumpkin Growers Association will hold it’s annual meeting on Saturday, January 27th, 2018. The meeting will be held at the Wholesale area of the Southwest Virginia Farmers Market. Registration begins at 8:15 through 9:00 with the meeting beginning at 9:00 am.
Agenda will be available on the day of the meeting at the Registration table. Annual dues of $50.00 will be due at Registration. A catered meal will be available by Hershbergers Produce.
Anyone interested in attending or becoming a member is encouraged to attend this meeting. We have several guest speakers who are very knowledgeable about pumpkins, food safety, and other important matters.

The Pumpkin Festival is going to be held October 7th, 2017 – 10am until 4pm on Main Street,Downtown Hillsville… Historic Downtown Chili Shoot Out will also be held on the same day! It’s sure to be a great time! The pumpkin festival is sponsored by the Carroll County Office of Tourism.
